Never Believe Everything That You Read!!!

dscn0335

Its one thing to report  news inaccurately but its another when you begin to put words into the interviewee’s mouth. This is what happen to Jane recently; a reporter from a renown and respectable newspaper, was at the MMU’s Autoshow /DCM drift challenge in Malacca last weekend and and did an  interviewed and took some pictures of Jane. As everyone knows towards the end of qualifying, it started to rain extremely heavily, our budding reporter friend assumed that the event was canceled and decided to do some creative journalism and imagined what Jane’s reaction would be. We contacted the said journalist but he insist it was the editors idea , which doesn’t make sense as which editor would want  inaccurate news to  be published under his care??..The best of all, the journalist even said something along the line of ” You should be happy what?..there’s a whole article on you” Hahahahahha ..Thats the  Malaysian Press for you

Happy Chinese New Year: The Civic

sany0702-1

Chinese New Year is one of my favorite festive holidays that we have here in Malaysia. The mere fact that most businesses closes for at least a week forces mine to do so too. What makes it even better are the roads  in town are practically deserted as most have gone out of state for their celebration. So I took  the opportunity to meet up with an old friend ,whom is now a  proud owner of a ‘mildly’ modded B16A powered Civic.

This friend of mine go way back as I have known since I first started working upon graduation. Though working in different companies, we both shared the same office building and being new, I always made it a point to get to work early. Most often I would arrive even before the office is actually opened. So most of the time I would be downstairs at the parking lot ,waiting. This was when I spotted this friend of mine. I had noticed that he was forever tinkering under the bonnet of his car;he was either wiping or tightening something. It was a dark blue Toyota LE running on an AE92 supercharged engine.I remember asking him tons of questions about the engine and how do they compared with other engines. He would gladly entertained me but always ended with ” but its not as fast as a V Tec laa…”. You see this friend of mine have this fixation on Hondas , he would go on and on about it, talked about how fast there are in Batu Tiga ( this was when Saturday night fever CCT sessions were still around) , about the chance encounter he had with them on the streets and so on. Even after owning a VR4 powered Satria, he still insist that the B16A is still  the ultimate!

Many years past and he finally got himself one. We did occasionally meet up after that and he would give me on an update of his modifications each time . This ranges from engine , right down to the chasis. I suppose it would be safer to not list them down here 😉

So, naturally when I had my car transplanted with an engine smiliar to his old LE, we  both were  dying to compare their peformance against each other….

….and boy we sure had fun doing it

Perak Super Series : the Drift challenge incident..

dsc_00271I have to admit, this is only the second time I’ve been to the Dato Sagor track in Kampung Gajah but during  both occasions   I  always had and always will, have the impression that the inhabitants of this serene kampung were nothing short of being the most  hospitable and friendliest bunch of people I have ever met. Locals were ever so helpful whenever we were at the track; offering to buy us meals or drinks , helping us carry our tyres during changes even after we insist them not doing so. In fact, when Cheaka had some issues with her wheel spacer , one of the workshops nearby allowed us full excess to his tools and bolts without even batting an eye lid.

It is so unfortunate that the  incident had happened, some people got hurt, some  will get into trouble and the whole community has gotten a bad rep. I seriously do not know what the future  will hold for the Sagor track as far as events are concerned but all I implore everyone , especially those who weren’t there during the incident, to not  make things worse by your  speculations  and  accusasions..Enough said

Here are some photo taken of Pasir Salak Resort where we (Wanbra , Dzal , Cheaka and I) stayed for 3 days and 2 nights.A kampung style chalet , located in a middle of a village , across the river from the track ..

Authentic looking kampung style chalet…the only problem is every chalet looks the same..needless to say if it weren’t for the numbers we wouldn’t have been able to find our way back..
