Sunday Drift Practice @ Putrajaya 27th Feb 2011

Glad to say that the s13 feels like a totally new car on it’s new set up . However, a careless mistake of not locking the bonnet pins before my run had my bonnet flying into my front windscreen thus shattering it . A quick tape job and a pair of sunglasses had me going at it again .

Jane had the same rocker arm issues she suffered during FD Malaysia 2010 which relegated her to be my co driver for this session

Mike Kong did exceptional well with his trailling runs against Yoong’s V8 which is why he loves his kambing (????)

Drift AE86T: Welcome back

After almost 4 months at the shop sorting it out, AE86T is finally back running on new suspensions and uprated rear axel, courtesy of my new sponsors ACE Suspensions. The engine has also some tweaks done to it which I am excited to test it out soon.

‘Welcome back sweetie, I promise I won’t let that naughty uncle Ivan come close to you again’ 😛

ACE Drift Challenge round 1@ A’Famosa 1st n 2nd Jan 2011

Coming back to round 1 of the Ace Drift Challenge this year, after somewhat dominating the whole of last year’s series, proved to be a bitter sweet experience for me and us as a team. The s13 ,though having a whole year to experiement with, still showed some short comings which was attributed to some set up changes suggested to me late last year. With a solid day of drifting during the first day it was apparent that the set up wasn’t suitable and changes should be made as soon as we got home for this event. This had left me with no choice but to run the car on its current set up for the competition held on the next day.

Qualifying was a bit of a confusing affair as I was unaware that the last two front clipping points were ommited just before our qualifying run. As a result I only managed a 8th qualifying position. My bid for top position was cut short during the best 16 with me hitting the wall during my first tsuiso run…oh well

Jane qualified into the best 32 with a 28th position with her strong qualifying run. During her Top 32 tsuiso run , she gave Weichek a run for his money by forcing her way into a one more time which Weichek had won through the narrowest of margin

Mike Kong also qualified at 29th position and managed to beat his opponent who also happens to be our former student Winston Ang during the Top 32 battle. Mike failed to go past best 16 which earned him 16th overall

Azrina Jane Abdullah joins Red Bull Athlete

Azrina Jane Abdullah with Red Bull on board

Team Goodyear Sync Optima Driver, Azrina Jane Abdullah (better known as Jane) sign with Red Bull Malaysia as the new addition to the Red Bull Athlete program for her 2011 drift campaign.

Jane was introduced to the Red Bull family when she was at a special gathering for Red Bull Rookie project last year. She met other Red Bull Rookie drivers including their trainer, Kenvin Low from AADA.

“I’m very happy to be part of the Red Bull Athlete program this year. I am proud to say that being involved with my favourite energy drink and the coolest brand in Malaysia is something I never dreamed of happening,” said excitedly by Jane.

Do keep a look out for Jane this year with her new Red Bull feature in her Nissan 180sx for the upcoming drift events.
